Local redaction for injury and malpractice firms

Send the facts, not the names.

Redact Pet blacks out names, Social Security numbers and addresses in medical records on your own PC. Your team can use AI on the case without sending client details anywhere.

Built for real records. Typed pages, scans and fax copies, in one batch.

Medical detail stays. Diagnoses, drugs and dates of care remain readable for your case.

Identifiers found

Redact Pet reads the page on your PC and marks every name, SSN and address. The medical details are left alone.

Kept readable: neck pain, distal radius fracture, cyclobenzaprine 5 mg, follow-up dates.

A scripted example on a fictional record, so you can see the steps. The real app does this on your own PC, page after page.

How it works

A folder in, clean copies out.

No setup, no accounts, nothing to configure. A paralegal can run it on day one.

  1. 01

    Add your files

Drop in PDFs from the records request: typed notes, scanned pages and faxes.

  2. 02

It reads every page on your PC

Scans and faxes are read with on-device text recognition. Nothing is sent out to do it.

  3. 03

    Identifiers are blacked out

Names, SSNs and addresses get solid black bars on a new copy. Your originals are never changed.

  4. 04

Check the copies, then use them

Look over the cleaned pages, then take them to Claude or your firm's AI tool.

What it removes, what it keeps

For firm IT

Nothing leaves the PC.

The reading, the redaction and the logs all stay on the computer it's installed on. Here's what your IT contact will want to know.

Local processing

Text recognition and redaction run in a local engine on the PC. Documents are not uploaded.

One installer

A single Windows installer with everything inside. It checks the engine works before it finishes.

No admin rights

Installs for the signed-in user. Tested as a standard user with Microsoft Defender on.

Originals untouched

Redaction writes new copies. The files you add are never changed.

Logs stay local

Error logs are kept in the user's app-data folder. A problem report is only shared if you copy and send it.

A one-page IT guide

What it installs, where files go and how to remove it. Code signing is being set up for the wider rollout.

Limits

What it doesn't do.

Knowing the edges is part of trusting a tool.

  • It can miss things. Faint scans, handwriting and unusual forms are the hardest. Check the cleaned copies before sharing them.
  • It doesn't decide what counts as PHI. It finds names, SSNs and addresses. Whether a document is safe to share is still your firm's call.
  • It isn't a compliance program. It doesn't replace your privacy policies or legal advice.
  • It runs on Windows today. Windows 11 PCs. Mac is not supported yet.

Try it on your own records.

We're running pilots with injury and malpractice firms. You install it, run your own files on your own PC, and we measure the results with you.
